Reasons Why You Should Choose Organic Foods
A growing number of people have begun to prefer buying organic foods because they believe that they will get more benefits from them. Some people claim that there is no difference between organic and non-organic food. If you are one of these people, perhaps you should read the list below and find out what you're missing.
1.) What you eat becomes a part of you.
The most obvious reason why organic produce is safer than their inorganic counterparts is the fact that they have been grown and handled without the use of toxic chemicals. Even better, they have undergone strict quality control and have reached a certain standard before they are certified organic and released by the Quality Assurance International (QAI). With these two things in mind, you can bet that the meal you have prepared do not contain any harmful substances that can cause detrimental consequences in the future.
Although farmers use EPA-approved chemicals, you have to consider the possibility that the research done of them was lacking and they may in fact cause harm to people who have induced them. As a matter of fact, recent studies have proven that some of these weed, mold and insect killers can actually cause cancer. Another thing that you should be wary of is the conventionally grown products that may contain a substance called DDT or hexachlorobenzene. Not only can DDT cause cancer, you can also be poisoned slowly as it accumulates in your bloodstream and breaks down to DDE. Other minor symptoms linked to the consumption of pesticides are headaches, tremor, lack of energy, depression, anxiety, poor memory, dermatitis, convulsions, nausea, indigestion and diarrhoea. This shows that choosing to serve organic vegetables can make a significant impact in your family's health as well as your children's future.

Most mothers make sure that their children do not have too much sweets. And, it's not just because it can cause dental or weight problems in the future. Sweets can make children hyperactive, making them more difficult to manage. If that's the case, they should watch out for artificial colorings and preservatives that are found in processed foods and drinks because they can also make a child more hyperactive. The good news is that preservatives, artificial acids, colorings, flavorings and other additives are not allowed in organic food production.
Another thing that you have to consider is that children consume more food than adults because their bodies need it to grow. Not only can the amount of food that they consume make them more vulnerable to toxins, their development may also be affected by these chemicals. Although many studies have claimed that the amount nutrients found in organic and non-organic foods are the same, there have been some that proved otherwise. Just consider the fact that the artificial fertilizers used to make non-organic crops look more appealing increases the water content of the produce. Because of this, you can bet that organic produce has more dry matter than inorganic food. Hence, you will find more nutrients in organic food.
Another thing that you should consider is the fact that most of the conventionally grown produce is picked and stored before they ripen. They also undergo a lot of processes before they are sold to the consumers. This can greatly lessen the amount of nutrients in the products. And, since these crops are not dependent on chemical pesticides, they have a greater need for the antidioxants that support the plant's defense mechanism. Because of this, the crops from this plant contain more antioxidants. Many studies have shown the truth of this theory. In fact, a bigger volume of lycopene has been found in organic tomatoes. The same goes for polyphenols, flavonols and reservatrol that are found in organic potatoes, apples and red wine, respectively.
4.) The best way to fight against cancer.
It's true. Because the ascorbic acid, beta carotene and B vitamins found in organic products have not been reduced by the chemical toxins that are commonly used in non-organic products, people who eat organic products have more of these nutrients in their bodies. And, both ascorbic acid and beta carotene are both known for cancer prevention. Also, when we consume foods that are free from toxins, our bodies' natural ability to combat diseases will not be disrupted, increasing the effectiveness of this function.

It is right that organic food is healthier and it might help the eviroment but have you ever ask yourselves about the people who plant, tent, and harvest it? Most of these people work and live in very poor conditions, here are some facts that I found.
· The reported average hourly wage of farm workers nationally is about $6.17, which is 7 per cent less than in 1977, after inflation (New York Times) (However, many farm worker advocates contend that this figure is very misleading and is actually much lower. Farm workers work as many as 12 to 14 hours per day, but a workday of 8 hours is used to calculate the hourly wage.)
· In the peak season farm workers work as much as 12 to 14 hours per day, six or seven days per week but no overtime is paid.
· The average annual income of farm workers is between $7,000.00 and $8,000.00. This is lowest of all wage and salary workers in the US.
· The number of farm workers living in poverty is increasing. In 1994-95, sixty one per cent of farm workers lived in poverty compared to fifty per cent in 1990.
So please do your own research and know where your produce come from, ask questions, and remember that without these people the organic food would not be posible. Think About it!
While what you have to say is mostly valid - you have provided no concrete evidence (you know, quotes, resources, etc) that what you say is true. This is the most annoying thing about information on the internet. Anyone can say anything and it immediately becomes a fact.
Great thoughts....... I think people should have a better understanding of where there food actually comes from and how it is grown. Even the way our livestock is kept is quite disturbing. Anyone considering making the meats in their diet organic should do it. Things like wild fish, organically raised chicken, beef, pork and milk.
I see no sources or references. I could write the exact opposite and it all depends on who is reading it to decide whether this is scientifically correct or not. Please don't make claims without evidence, and also "saying" it is scientific doesn't make it so. I like my papers please!

Very well put together hub. You can't argue with the fact of "what you eat becomes a part of you". For me one of the biggest draws is cognitive clarity I feel from organic healthy foods. Whenever I break my diet or "cheat" it always notice the slowdown feeling.
