The Emergence of Cellphone Syndrome
59
As we were growing up, our parents have always reminded us that there is a time for everything. There is a time for doing homework, for doing chores, for watching TV, for having a phone call and for going out with friends. Now, in the age of wireless gadgets and hands-free devices, we can take our calls everywhere. For this reason, we see many executives and teenagers using their mobiles even while they are moving around. Some have even found an extreme way of multi-tasking - driving, changing radio stations, talking and sipping a drink all at the same time.
Symptoms of Cellphone Syndrome
Cellphone Syndrome is a term that has been coined to describe a Type A behavior that makes people believe that they can have it all, pushing them to accomplish a lot of things at the same time. Unfortunately, just like an electrical circuit, our body has its own limits. And, when there are too many appliances plugged in at the same time, we can be heading for a massive short circuit.
If you leave the house with a blue tooth earpiece stuck on your ear and take it off only after you've gone home, then you might have a serious case of Cellphone Syndrome. Most people who have this syndrome end up doing most of their day-to-day tasks while chatting on the phone. It may not sound like a serious ailment but it can cause a lot of stress and a lot of conflicts between affected parties.
Cure Cellphone Syndrome With Good Chemistry
It may be difficult to believe but the things that we take in can actually affect our behavior. What we eat reacts with the chemicals in our body, forming substances that are responsible for configuring our behavior. Serotonin is one of these substances. It gives us a feeling of relaxation and calmness. In order for this to be formed, tryptophan, one of the chemicals in our body, has to be combined with a Vitamin B6, B3 and C. Unfortunately, when we are preoccupied with so many activities in a day, we do forget about having a healthy diet and tend to snack on foods with low nutritional value. Hence, we end up producing lesser Serotonin, causing us to be hyperactive and out of control.
In order to have a feeling of calmness, we need to pile up on Vitamin B3 and B6 by taking in supplements or foods rich in these nutrients like fish, milk and vegetables like asparagus and broccoli. Of course, this should be combined with a regular intake of fruit juices that are rich in Vitamin C. Combined with some relaxation techniques from yoga or meditation groups, you can say good bye to Cellphone Syndrome.
